I’m Breanna Federico
and I’m passionate about this work. My passion comes from my own personal journey with it. Somatic practices changed the trajectory of my life when my postpartum journey flipped everything I knew upside down. Like so many women, I was conditioned to placate my desires and needs, internalise and muffle my intuition, and disassociate from my body. For me, all of these issues compounded during my motherhood journey. I felt lost about how to get the support I needed or even identify the needs I was having. I didn’t know how to give the people around me what they needed from me because I felt depleted.
For so much of my life I focused on thoughts and the “validity” of my feelings, truly understanding my emotions as cues from the body is something I am still learning. Somatic practices helped me process through trauma, identify my physical and emotional needs, and feel empowered to make necessary, even sometimes difficult, changes in my life. Learning how to accept my feelings and express them in a way which emphasises self-compassion and self-respect, while maintaining compassion and respect for others — has fundamentally changed the way I view myself and my relationships. To me, compassion is the basis of somatic work.
However, it is a constant process and the work never ends. For me, gaining my trainings and certifications has in itself been part of my own growth. The opportunity to work with clients on so many of the topics which are personal to me, has altered my life as positively as it has theirs. I feel strongly about making these resources available to others in need. Whether your story is like mine or completely different from me, I’m excited that you have found your way here and I look forward for the opportunity to support you in your healing journey.
